How Much Will a FrostBoss® Frost Fan Cost?

To work out how much your frost fans will cost you, we need to come out for a visit first. During this visit, we’ll chat about your needs, assess your crop coverage requirements, and then map out where fans need to be placed for maximum effectiveness.


Once that's done, we’ll recommend the most suitable fan type and quantity to provide the best protection while staying within your budget.

Auto Start/ Stop
Included as standard on all FrostBoss® models. This Automatically starts and stops at preset temperatures, unlike competitors who charge extra for this feature.
Corrosion-Resistant Engine Cabinet
FrostBoss® Frost Fans feature corrosion-resistant, powder-coated aluminium engine cabinets unlike painted steel cabinets from other brands, which often corrode severely within 4–5 years. This durability is especially crucial for growers using lime-based sprays.
Hot-Dipped Galvanized Tower
Unlike painted towers that only protect the exterior, FrostBoss® towers are fully galvanized inside and out to prevent rust.
Large Integral Fuel Tank
FrostBoss® Frost Fans come with a built-in 490-litre fuel tank, while many competitors charge extra or do not supply one at all.
Vermin & Rodent Proof Engine Cabinet
FrostBoss® engine cabinets are vermin and rodent proof to prevent wires from being chewed or bird nests creating fires.
Anemometer
FrostBoss® Frost Fans come standard with an anemometer that automatically shuts off the fan in winds above 10kph and restarts it when winds drop below 8kph. Many competitors charge extra for this feature.
Wireless Canopy Probe
FrostBoss® Frost Fans feature a wireless canopy probe installed at fruit height within 50 metres of the fan. If the primary probe fails, a backup temperature probe on the fan ensures continued monitoring. Additionally, there is a tower-mounted probe which measures inversion strength for optimal performance.
Solar Panel 
With FrostBoss® Frost Fans, a solar panel is included as standard to continuously trickle charge the battery, while many competitors offer this only as a paid add-on.
Telemetry Hardware
Telemetry hardware for remote monitoring comes standard with all FrostBoss® fans, whereas many competitors charge extra for this feature. (Note: An annual subscription is required for access to the customer-specific web app.)
Fuel Costs
The FrostBoss® C49 (4-blade) fan uses just 21 litres of diesel per hour, while many standard 2-blade machines can use up to 38 litres per hour. This leads to huge fuel savings over time. 
Noise Emissions
FrostBoss® Frost Fans are among the quietest on the market. The C49 operates at just 51dB at 300 meters, while the C59 is even quieter at 50dB at the same distance. In comparison, a competitor's 2-blade fan claims a noise level of 49dBA at 300 meters, but independent reports show this fan actually reaches 55dBA at the same distance. View the findings here.
Coverage Area
FrostBoss® Frost Fans cover 6-8 hectares. The aerodynamic composite blades are designed to optimise wind momentum at low engine speeds (1750-1800rpm). Some competitors may overstate their fan coverage—ask them to prove it, just like we can here.
